Fintech UK, Fintech Ireland and Fintech Northern Ireland are very happy to row behind this excellent event by Kerman & Co, foundation supporter of Fintech UK. Brexit is an important topic for fintech not only in the UK and Ireland, but across Europe. International fintech and financial services looking for a European fintech presence also need to stay on top of all things Brexit, including impact on employees.
As the FT reported on 16 November 2020 - "A good rule with Brexit is never to talk about “crunch weeks” or hard deadlines, which tend to prove a whole lot squishier than expected. But this time, we really are approaching a critical moment."

Kerman & Co Webinar: New UK Immigration System: is your business prepared for the end of free movement of EU workers?

With fewer than 45 days until the end of the Brexit transition period [Brexit countdown clock], this webinar will cover some of the key challenges businesses will face in continuing to recruit and retain talent from the EU.
From 1 January 2021, freedom of movement between the UK and EU will end and the UK will introduce a new immigration system. The way businesses recruit from the EU will change as a result, as the same visa rules will apply to both EU and non-EU citizens.
If you wish to sponsor the visas of EU or Non-EU nationals after 1 January 2021 you will need to apply for a Sponsor Licence from the UK Home Office. Employers also need to budget for the costs associated with visa applications and the lead in times for preparation and processing of a visa under the new immigration system. Essentially, if a business wishes to seamlessly maintain current staffing levels of EU employees, they need to take action ASAP.
In this webinar, Kerman & Co's Head of Immigration Stephen Hall will cover the following topics, aimed at assisting HR professionals or anyone involved with the recruitment of talent from the EU:
• Overview of the New Points Based Immigration System.
• How will the new immigration system affect my business?
• How will my current Tier 2 visa holders be affected by the new system?
• The minimum skill, education and salary thresholds required.
• How to satisfy the English Language requirement.
• Explanation of "tradeable" points.
• Advice for your existing EU workforce (the EU Settlement Scheme and Irish Nationals).
• How to apply for a sponsor licence.
• What are the costs and timelines to consider?
• Alternative visa routes and business visitors to the UK.
• Avoiding discrimination requesting right to work documentation from EU employees.
• Recommended plan of action for HR professionals.
• Q&A session
